• Dear Iola ISD Parents and Guardians,

In order to maintain the highest level of health and safety for our students, staff, and community, and to ensure we do not "undo" the progress made by having our doors closed for the last two weeks, we are going to extend our district closure through Friday, April 10th.
    Please see the information below.
We will continue to offer meal pick up.  However, we are adjusting the time meals will be available.  The new meal pick up time is 10:00-12:00.
    At-Home Instructional Supports
We will continue to offer instructional supports while students are at home.  These supports are rolled out a week at a time.  Online supports such as Google Classroom, videoed lessons, and Zoom meetings will continue as scheduled.  Pick up times for hard copies will follow the meal pick up times of Monday-Friday 10:00 to 12:00, with an additional time on Monday evenings from 6:00-7:00 pm.  If you need a hard copy and cannot make it to the school during these times, please contact your principal to make other arrangements.
    Responsibility for Assignments
Parents, we cannot stress enough how important it is for your student(s) to complete these assignments at this time.  These assignments could play a significant role in the determination of promotion or retention.  We are still in the process of determining what grading procedures will look like during this time.  However, teacher input will play a major role at the elementary level and these assignments will aid teachers when making these decisions.
Completed hard copies can be turned in using several methods.  You can take a picture of the completed assignment and email or text the pictures to your teacher(s).  If your teacher is using See-Saw, you can turn them in through that resource.  You can even bring the packets back to the school when you pick up the work for the next week. However, please do not bring work back to the school if you are symptomatic, and if you are returning completed work in an envelope, do not seal it.  Also, we ask you to please encourage your children to log in and work in their Google classrooms.  Simply put, parents, we need your help!  Your child's education should not be put on hold during this time.  We will continue to provide instructional supports.  Please help us by having your child complete the assignments.  I know, without a doubt, our students will continue to learn and grow during this unfortunate event.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility during this very fluid time.
    Stay well.
    Scott Martindale
