  • Scott Martindale - Superintendent

    Hello Bulldog Family,

I want to say how honored I am to serve as Superintendent of Iola ISD, and to be a part of this wonderful community.  As I reflect on the time I spent as a junior high and high school teacher and coach, and the years I’ve served as a junior high, high school, and elementary principal I must say that serving this district and this community is definitely the highlight of my career.

Iola ISD is a great district, and we work to become better every day.  Many of you have learned that my goal for Iola Secondary School and Iola Elementary School is to become the best in Texas at everything we do.  That goal will not change. As Superintendent of Iola ISD, my goal is to be the very best at every endeavour we take on as a district. Whether it’s STAAR and EOC results, our A-F accountability rating, athletics, UIL academics, or fine arts, we should never settle for mediocre or average.  We should, and will, strive to give our all everytime we step up to represent Iola ISD.

As Superintendent, you will continue to see me at every event I can possibly make it to, in order to support, cheer for, high five, and love our kids in the good times and the not so good times.

This is my open invitation for you to stop by.  Please come see me if you need anything, and remember… IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A BULLDOG!

    Scott Martindale

    Brian Fowler - Secondary Principal

I am Brian Fowler and I am the principal at Iola Secondary School. I am a fighting Texas Aggie class of 2001 and 2007 with a background in sport management and a strong interest in many subject areas, most notably science and history. I started my professional career working with ABC Sports, ESPN, and have also had the opportunity to work for several collegiate athletic departments, including Texas A&M University, University of Maryland, and SMU.

For the last decade, I have been in a fulfilling career which has included teaching, coaching, and educational administration. My passion for sharing knowledge in a safe and positive environment empowers my mission to make Iola ISD the best district in the state of Texas.

As an Iola ISD principal, I will strive to make Iola Secondary School a campus that every student loves attending each day with teachers who love being here. I enjoy working with the students of Iola and supporting the amazing staff and teachers that positively impact this school.

When I'm not at school, I love to spend time with my beautiful wife and four children.

I look forward to the upcoming school year with the Iola Bulldogs!

     Kindest Regards,

    Brian Fowler

  • Kristin Sajewski - Elementary Principal

I am honored to be the principal of Iola Elementary, where we have the best students, staff, and parents!

Teaching has been my passion since I was a child, where I grew up in Magnolia, Texas. I was surrounded by educators in my family, and spent many hours up at the school with them on weekends and breaks. I would often help my grandmother grade papers or try out a lesson she was thinking about. My mom was my coach in junior high, where we clenched many district championships. I grew up seeing the hard work, heart-work, and dedication it takes to be an educator, and I wanted to be a part of that.

After graduating high school in 2002, I received my bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies at Texas A&M University in 2006. WHOOP! From there, I went on to teach 3rd grade for Magnolia ISD for 8 years. What a challenging and rewarding job it was!

I joined the Iola Elementary family in 2014, where I taught 4th grade and 3rd grade. I automatically fell in love with the students that I was blessed to see each day. In 2016, I felt that I wanted to continue to work with students and the school community through a different channel, and received my Masters in Educational Administration from Lamar University in 2018.

I am passionate about loving and educating all students and about inspiring others to grow in our teaching-craft everyday. Part of what makes Iola Elementary so special, is the tremendous amount of support we get from parents and the community. It is a blessing to get to come to work everyday!
