Episode 13 of the Bulldog Pride Podcast - Little Bulldogs, Big Hearts: PreK - 5th Student Spotlight!

Our latest podcast episode features the most important voices in our school—the students! Host Amanda Rollert and Principal Ms. Guilbeau sit down with one student from each elementary grade (Pre-K through 5th) to hear what makes being an Iola Bulldog special.

Featured students:

  • Ramsey Gillis - Pre-K
  • Cameron Jolly - Kindergarten
  • Rhys Abbott - 1st Grade
  • Josiah Smith - 2nd Grade
  • Everly Jackson - 3rd Grade
  • Eve Hurst - 4th Grade
  • Kolman Barksdale - 5th Grade

These articulate young Bulldogs share what they love about Iola: kind friends, helpful teachers, and great cafeteria food!

They discuss favorite subjects (lots of math lovers in this group!), what they're learning—from kindergarten stations and telling time to volume calculations and RACE writing strategies—and how teachers make class fun.

Students reveal surprising favorite foods (asparagus even won a couple votes!), recess favorites (football, kickball, freeze tag, monkey bars), and special talents including rodeo goat tying, UIL competitions in oral reading and chess strategy, and varsity volleyball connections.

They share thoughtful ways to keep school clean and safe: picking up trash, using reusable water bottles, setting good examples, and helping friends who fall. Special memories include field trips to the Waco Zoo and A&M basketball games, competing in UIL, playing Guess Who on Fridays, and the Color Run with staff throwing colors!

From Pre-K through 5th grade, these students embody what it means to be a Bulldog: kind, hardworking, well-mannered, and proud of their school.
